Field of Honor- How You Can Contribute.
It’s that time of year when you might start seeing fields of flags at your Town Hall, Schools, Police Stations, etc. What you’re probably seeing is your local Kiwanis Club’s Filed of Honor. Each flag honors a soldier and is purchased by people just like you and me who want to give back to their local community. When you purchase a flag, you decide who that flag will honor. The money raised through this program is then donated to local charities that the club has voted on.
Kiwanis is an internal organization that brings the world together one community at a time. With local charters in communities all over the world, each club focuses on helping the people in their very own community. Each charter creates events and programs that directly assist local charities, often times with a focus on children’s and veteran’s organizations. The thing I love most about Kiwanis is the idea that you are truly helping your own community from the inside out!
Kiwanis is very family oriented, offering great opportunities for volunteers of all ages to get involved and give back. Looking for ways to teach the kids to get involved this summer? Kiwanis might be just the thing! Most clubs hold meetings with a regular schedule and gladly welcome guests who would like to learn more about the organization and what exactly they do.
